Once upon a time, this kingdom was thriving, and originally called the 'Risorce Kingdom', it was a popular one for resources and loved trading with the other kingdoms.
It wasn't perfect, but it tried it's best, and was working towards peace...
Until a kingdom suddenly attacked, the Risorcians didn't even know it's name, all that could be known was almost everyone was in one place, defending itself, save for Prince Blaise, and the aggressive invaders covered hit the kingdom's citizens, nobles, and royals with a strange mind altering drug/chemical that made them feral, and the town became a dangerous place, filled with many other dangers that seemingly came from no where.
One day, somehow, the prince made a safe path that none of the dangers could get to, they could observe, but not attack, and from that day on, it was known as The Refuge for the Lost, where those seeking refuge from a kingdom or war could hide in, and no kingdom would dare attack, with the dangers greater than their desire to get the refuge.
TRftL is settled in the castle of the surrounding town, the citizens live in the rooms, and are all treated equal. The rooms mostly have only one bed, and are medium sized. The kingdom is very poor, and sees literally no reason to charge others for it, so the only use for money is for use at other kingdoms.
The threats are as follows, from most plentyful to least: Feral Risorcians, large bloodthirsty hares and rabbits, the unseen shadows that drag you away screaming, huge preditory birds, and the weird shadowy creatures that turn you feral like the Risorcians.
Most are unaware this kingdom even exists, but they are working on getting known.
Citizens of this kingdom wear key chain-like things around their tails, and it is a telltail sign they live here.
